May 26-31, 2026

Experience the scenic Cotswolds with botanical artist Pauline Teunissen.

Spend 5 days in the charming Hyll Manor (formerly known as the Charingworth Manor) in Chipping Campden. Set in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, Hyll Manor is a 14th century manor on 54 acres of grounds providing the perfect setting and location from which to explore and enjoy this lovely region of England. This manor hotel offers a wealth of amenities for painting, leisure and sightseeing activities and pursuits nearby.

We’ll tour gardens, and nearby historic villages featuring historic treasures, pretty stone cottages, and early summer flower gardens to provide artistic inspiration for a botanical painting adventure.

Itinerary:

Tuesday, May 26  – Arrival in England. Meet at Heathrow Airport and transfer to Chipping Campden and check into Hyll Manor. The afternoon is free to relax before we meet our fellow travelers and go over the details of our botanical painting and sightseeing schedule with Pauline. Enjoy a group dinner at the Manor.

Wednesday, May 27 – Hidcote Gardens.  Following breakfast, we’ll bus to Hidcote Manor Garden located in the village of Hidcote Bartrim, near Chipping Campden. It is one of the best-known and most influential Arts and Crafts gardens in Britain, with its linked “garden rooms” of hedges, rare trees, shrubs and herbaceous borders. A tour of this horticultural treasure will be the perfect inspiration before we set up for some time to sketch/paint in the garden. They have given us permission to sketch in the garden. Enjoy lunch at the Hidcote café on our own with free time before we return to the manor in the afternoon. Group dinner at the Manor. BD

Thursday, May 28 – Kelmscott Manor. After breakfast, we’ll bus to Kelmscott Manor. This Tudor farmhouse, located adjacent to the River Thames, was built of local limestone in 1570. Later, the Manor became the Cotswold retreat of Victorian designer, campaigner, socialist, author, William Morris and his family, friends and colleagues. When Morris first saw the Manor in 1871, he was delighted by this ‘loveliest haunt of ancient peace.’ We’ll view the iconic collection of artwork furniture, original textiles, paintings and objects owned and designed by the Father of the Arts & Crafts Movement and discover why the Cotswold home became an inspiration for him and his family. The estate also boasts a beautiful garden where we can draw inspiration for our own botanical drawings.

Friday, May 29 – No Painting today, but people can bring a sketchbook to sketch on their own. Following breakfast, we’ll bus to Bibury for a walking tour in this quintessential Cotswolds village. The Arts & Crafts artist William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England.’  We’ll draw inspiration from the meandering river and ancient stone cottages on Arlington Row in Bibury, one of England’s most iconic and photographed sites. We’ll explore the charming foot paths, foot bridges, and gardens. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the town of Broadway where we can enjoy the beautiful Cotswold stone buildings draped in flowers. One of the most popular villages for dining and shopping, we’ll enjoy lunch and free time on our own. Return in the afternoon for a group dinner at the Manor. BD

Saturday, May 30 – Full day of art instruction/painting. Following a leisurely breakfast, enjoy free time at the Charingworth Manor to set up for a final day of painting inspired by our visits to the local gardens and villages. The Manor features beautiful gardens and meadows with adorable sheep grazing. This afternoon, Pauline invites all painters to gather for an engaging overview and sharing of the artwork created during this week of painting in the Cotswolds. This evening, enjoy a farewell group dinner.   BD

Sunday, May 31 – Departure from London. Morning group transfer from our Manor to Heathrow Airport.
