This program begins in Athens, the cradle of Western civilization. We’ll explore the Parthenon, visit the Acropolis Museum, and gain insight from classical art and architecture that continues to influence the world. Next, travel to Crete, where we’ll spend the next five days in the beautiful town of Chania with its Venetian harbor, serene coastlines, and historic landscapes. Enjoy daily guided painting sessions with David Dunlop at some of the island’s most scenic locations within steps from our hotel overlooking the sea. Daily painting sessions with David will include demonstrations, personalized feedback and discussions on technique, composition, and color.

The month of October is the perfect time of year to enjoy plein air painting while exploring the architectural and natural treasures in Crete where the temperatures range from 72-79 degrees during the day.

OCTOBER 6
DEPART THE US – Your journey begins with your flight to Athens where ancient wonders and creative inspiration await in the cradle of Western civilization. *Jet Vacations is happy to assist you with your air travel arrangements per request at an additional cost.
OCTOBER 7
At the arrivals in the Athens Airport, you’ll be greeted by Jeanne Fontaine of Artful Travels and our English-speaking escort for a private transfer to the elegant Divani Acropolis Hotel in Athens. Later in the afternoon, we’ll gather with David Dunlop and fellow artist travelers for a festive welcome dinner at a traditional local restaurant. (Dinner)
OCTOBER 8
We’ll begin our day with a private guided tour of Athens. Visit iconic landmarks and ascend the Acropolis to explore the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and Propylaea, then stroll to the stunning Acropolis Museum. (Breakfast, Dinner)
OCTOBER 9
After breakfast, we depart Athens for a short flight to the Chania Airport on the beautiful island of Crete. Upon arrival in Chania, take a brief panoramic tour of its coastal charms and historic old town before checking into the stylish Tanneries Hotel & Spa on the waterfront. In the afternoon, join David and your fellow painters for an inspiring painting demonstration near the hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
OCTOBER 10
Today is dedicated to creativity. Settle into your artistic rhythm as we enjoy a full day of painting with David in a picturesque location near the hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
OCTOBER 11
Coastal views, harbor scenes and the Mediterranean light – Explore new perspectives and subject matter with David while painting within walking distance of the hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
OCTOBER 12
After breakfast, we’ll travel by bus 30 minutes outside of Chania to the lush Botanical Park & Gardens of Crete. With over 50 acres of Mediterranean flora, it’s the perfect setting for painting inspiration and instruction with David Dunlop. We’ll enjoy lunch at the Garden’s restaurant. Return to Chania in the afternoon. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
OCTOBER 13
Today, we’ll have the opportunity for more plein air painting, taking advantage of the island’s longer sunny days. This evening, we’ll celebrate the journey with fellow painters over a special farewell dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
OCTOBER 14
We will transfer from our hotel to the Chania Airport for our flight to Athens and our journey home. Enjoy a final breakfast, depending on your return flight schedule. (Breakfast).  Air travel assistance is available upon request.
