Painting & Barging in Holland with Lisa Regopoulos

Experience the art of the Flemish and Dutch masters on a small group barging tour through Holland with pastel artist Lisa Regopoulos. Lisa will lead art demonstrations and plein air painting sessions capturing the picturesque canals and landscapes with tulips in full bloom! Non-painters will have the option to experience biking in the charming villages and countryside and sightsee along the way.  In addition, we will  tour museums, local sites and enchanting villages and country sides dotted with windmills. A highlight of our museum visits will be to the Rijksmuseum to see the first retrospective exhibit of Johannes Vermeer’s works and the largest gathering of his works ever. Ports on the trip include Amsterdam, Haarlem, Delft, Leiden, Rotterdam and Gouda, and a tour of the incredible Keukenhof Gardens, considered one of the most beautiful spring gardens in the world.

We’ll spend seven nights on a 24-passenger, well-appointed barge The Fiep and one night at a centrally located hotel in Amsterdam. From the comfort and convenience of the barge, we will travel the canals of Holland departing from the mooring in Amsterdam and paint in picturesque locations such as Haarlem, the Keukenhof Garden area, Rotterdam, Delft, Leiden and Gouda, taking advantage of the spectacular display of tulips in bloom for painting inspiration. We return to Amsterdam for a tour of the Vermeer exhibit and the second largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings at the Kroller Muller Museum

Each day will consist of sightseeing with several days of drawing and painting demonstrations reinforced with one-on-one instruction with Lisa. Painters are responsible for their own supplies and a recommended packing list will be provided. A chartered coach will take us to and from the barge to sites on the itinerary and painting locations when necessary.

Non-painters –  Each day enjoy excursions in every city with plenty of options for sightseeing, walking tours, museum exploration and shopping at local markets. If you choose Nordic Walking, Frank will lead you through beautiful scenic areas as you practice and learn the Nordic Walking technique. There will be lots of breaks in between. No prior experience necessary.

March 31 – April 9, 2023

What a wonderful new perspective for travel to France to become a passenger on a river barge. Gliding through the center of the country was a unique experience. With each stop we visited a village or town rich with history, walking in the same footsteps where Barbizon artists lived and created their art.

So many high points on this trip where we also stopped to create art of our own. “

“My wife and I are veteran travelers with 48 years of experience. We’ve traveled on our own and with groups. And, when it comes to groups, Jeanne Fontaine ranks number 1.
First, before the trip begins, she arranges a zoom meeting to address any questions or concerns. We begin well prepared.  Second, she maintains a reassuring calmness no matter what the problem is, and she finds a solution. Jeanne’s professionalism and empathy make for memorable travel adventures!”
